I love to bake, my son loves to eat baked goodies but still there are times when he has to demand for cookies… π As these was mainly for him I didnt really want to do anything with maida and then I had this brain wave of making up a recipe myself… I did some browsing and thought some and came up with whole wheat choco chip cookies… and they were yummy…. the thin ones that I made crisp as they should have been and the round thick ones soft and chewy…
Ingredients
Method
As I was making them for Ojas I shaped them into various shapes, animals, ginger bread boy, aeroplane, car…
And there was Ojas itself as a highlight
And the entire batch of about 20 cookies got over in under an hour π

Thanks a lot for the recipe Monu. π
PS – bake for just 9-12 mins right? And we just place them in a baking tray and into the oven right?

Monika this is so very tempting π Love the shapes. Fun with cooking is something I always do. Used to make them when kids were small. involving the elder one to cut shapes was a great experience. I make Bostan cookies too with atta . wish I had taken pix when writing the recipes π¦ most of them are from my other writing site where pix were not allowed. you rock mommy π .. envy Oju baby hehehhe

I also bake with whole wheat atta and Sufffola (not butter)… this is one recipe I am sharing with my kids, they both love to try new recipes. I wonder if there are recipes where we can add bran also – for added fibre.
Thank you thank you thank you thank you fr this recipe, Mon! I’ll surely make it!
Super recipe! I have a q….by ‘cup’, how much do you mean? I use the American cup as 8 oz, while an Indian cup is usually a teacup i.e. 6 oz. Plan to make this today!
Liked your shapes!
hey sorry starry missed ur question I use the measuring cups that u get in the market and they are the american ones i think
OOOOOOOOOhhh yummmmmmmmm..I tried these today and they came out really nice!Only I replaced the powdered sugar with raw sugar and atta with self raising wheat flour!..they are delicious!
@all : thanks for liking it
Hey Monika, came to this recipe thru GM’s blog. I don’t have kids yet, but I’ll love to hog on these regardless π Needed to know if cinnamon powder can be skipped altogether, or if there is a substitute for that.. don’t quite like its sharp taste. Thanks!
welcome to my place π and yes u can skip cinnamon all together or add a little cardomom in its place
Monika, finally ended up making these today π In the oven and we are waiting for them to get done π
And I finally got my hands on the Sari shop too π

Hi Monika, Tried out the cookies and my son loved them! thanks so much for your recipe!
Thanks for the quick recipe…
I have been trying this recipe with a small problem. My cookies get burnt from bottom. What could be the reason? I’m using Morphy richards otg at around 160 deg C temperature preheated for 10 minutes. I put my tray on middle shelf in otg. Pl advise.
thanks,
Prerna
I use a morphy richards oven too try reducing the temp a little of try baking it in the top most rack
i did bake them and was quite thrilled that they came out well. Only one thing that I noted was that irrespective of using the correct measurements, they were extremely pliable and could not be made into shapes much to the disappointment of my girls who were all ready with various cookie cutters. What could be wrong? Thanks Ramya
oops! the cookie turned out to be very hard the next day. What could be wrong?
