I was recently invited to the annual sea food festival of Karavalli. Brilliant food, great conversations and a very humble chef. Had a great time and here is a pictorial review for you
Caranguejos Pimento Fritto : Stir fried mud crab with pepper, chilli and butter. Outstanding this was
Kuttanadan Karuvapila Konju : Tiger Prawn pan fried with onion and tomato with some fresh curry leaves
Yumminess
Fish Albardado – if I have to pick my least favorite dish of the day but that only speaks volume of how good the other stuff was because if I would have got this anywhere else I would have been a happy person
Octopus Uppumunchi – Kundapur popular octopus stir fry with grounded chilly and salt.
This was the first time I was having Octopus in indian masala and it was fabalous, brilliantly cooked as well
Podimeen Varathathu – Baby Anchovy marinated with kerala masala and crisp fried. Loved it

Vypeen Chemmin Piralan – Tiger Prawns in a hotly spiced marinade, cooked in the shell. A speciality of the Fisher’s island of Vypeen Kerala
Shevaiani Refogado – String hoppers cooked with mixed meat and seafood. A little like sevain biryani and I loved it
And the desserts – Elaneer Payasam, banana and caramel ice cream, Bebinca and dodhol
That banana ice cream was to die for, we had a second helping and demanded tubs for next time
something that the chef surprised us with since when he spoke about it we were blown away. Its a typical travel meal of that area. Ghee rice wrappes with chicken curry in a banana leaf. When eaten after ours is delightful with the aromas and flavours
