Sin-A-Mon Tales

A chronicle of my kitchen experiments, a little healthy a little indulgent

Masala Poori BM#4 Day 3

The thing they say about at times you get what you hate the most is true… as much as I detest deep fried foods my son loves them…. poori’s is something he can have at time of the day and as a helpless mom of a picky eater I don’t have a choice but to give in to that wish

I usually make pooris (like beetroot, spinach, carrot etc) for him and from the same atta make paranthas or rotis for us…. but masala poori is one think everyone in my house waits for. When its masala poori they all become like a small kid and want to eat the same

Recipe – Masala Poori (original)

What I used

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 boiled and mashed potatoes
  • 2 tbsp green mint chutney
  • 1 tsp jeera seeds
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 2 tsbp curd
  • enough water to knead

How I made it

  • Combine all ingredients together to make a firm dough. Cover it with a muslin cloth and leave it to rest for about 30 minutes or so
  • Make small balls, roll them out and deep fry them in hot oil.
  • Remember if the oil is sufficiently hot the poor’s will absorb less oil

We enjoyed it with a small black channa but it tastes equally good with pickle
